13th African Games: Get To Know The Participating Countries, Venues, And More

The 13th African Games are expected to be held in Ghana between 8 – 23 March 2024. This is the second time in history that the games will be decentralized, as three cities in the host country will host the event. The three cities chosen for these functions are Accra, Kumasi, and Cape Coast.

53 Countries are expected to participate in the Games which is highly anticipated to be one of the thrilling sporting events.

The opening of the 13th African Games will have one of the fastest legs on the continent Benjamin Azamati light up the torch at the 50,000 capacity ultra-modern Borteyman Olympic Standard Complex in Accra.

Ghana won the rights to host the event in October 2018 after beating Nigeria and Burkina Faso to it. Then in November 2021, Ghana signed an agreement with the African Union to host the event.

Subsequently, Ghana built a world class sports venue– called Borteyman Sports Complex in addition to other revamped stadia including the University of Ghana stadium, Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium, Achimota Oval, Cape Coast Stadium, Accra Sports Stadium and so on in the country to have the option to effectively host the event.

The new Borteyman Sports Complex is located in Borteyman, a suburb of Accra, and intended to be used for all indoor games at the sports festival.
