On Thursday, May 8, 2025, the African Development Bank 2025 Civil Society Organizations Forum took place both online and at the African Development Bank Headquarters, CCIA Building, Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
The African Development Bank Group and the Civil Society and Community Engagement Division met to discuss issues of concern.
The Bank has incorporated community voices into its purpose for 60 years. Throughout this process, civil society organizations have played a crucial role by establishing strategic partnerships with governments, businesses, and development partners.
The Forum offers a lively setting for discussing difficulties and exchanging experiences. As they commemorate their 60th anniversary, AfDB’s development initiatives continue to be impactful, inclusive, and sustainable through this event.
The Group’s development strategies are shaped by this biennial event, which provides direct interaction with the Bank. All Bank areas also host regional forums to match the Bank’s operations with the objectives of the populace.
The Forum this year included:
• Celebration of the institutionalized civil society engagement.
• Panel discussions featuring citizens’ and civil society organizations’ perspectives on Africa’s development.
• Civil society organization success stories through the Bank’s initiatives.
• Performances by local artists and grassroots representatives.
