
Hon. Yussif Jajah, Ghana’s Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, attended the 9th Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE 2025) Ministerial Panel in Munyonyo, Uganda, on behalf of Hon. Abla Gzifa Gomashie, Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts.
A high-level panel discussion with the theme “Enhancing Regional Tourism Marketing via Strategic Partnerships” took place on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.
In order to discuss joint initiatives to increase regional tourism and connectivity, the event brought together tourism ministers and important players from all around the African continent.
The Deputy Minister Jajah, speaking on behalf of Ghana, emphasized the nation’s abundant tourism potential and the significance of ecotourism, cultural heritage, and the creative arts as major engines of economic expansion.
He also discussed the sector’s problems, like budget constraints and inadequate infrastructure, and outlined the government’s strategic plan to improve sustainability and competitiveness.
“Tourism remains a vital sector for Ghana’s socio-economic development. We are committed to forging partnerships that will unlock the full potential of our cultural and creative resources,” Ghana’s minister Jajah said.
Ministers of tourism from Kenya, Uganda, and other African countries were also on the panel. The Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM) initiative of the African Union was a major topic of discussion.

In order to liberalize the aviation sector throughout Africa, the ministers pledged to implement SAATM, a continental policy.
Deregulating air services and promoting transnational competition, SAATM seeks to create a unified air transport market that will significantly boost intra-African connectivity, tourism, and trade.
