NDC Party Officials With State Appointments To Be Removed

According to reliable sources inside the party’s leadership structure, executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who currently hold government positions are expected to be dismissed of their duties.

The action was taken as the party’s worries over accountability, conflicting interests, and fractured loyalties grew. According to the party leadership, executives in government positions may find it challenging to fully support the NDC’s agenda while employed in the current government.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) has agreed in principle to implement a long-standing internal policy that prohibits party leaders from having positions in any administration that the party does not lead, according to a senior NDC official who spoke on condition of anonymity.

“It’s about maintaining the integrity and independence of the party. We cannot have key decision-makers in the party also serving in government positions where their loyalty may be tested,” the official said.

Numerous regional and national leaders who are nominated to state institutions, boards, and advisory positions through professional capacities or bipartisan agreements are anticipated to be impacted by this judgment.

According to political observers, the action is a component of the NDC’s larger strategy to reestablish internal discipline, simplify its leadership, and establish itself as a more-ready and focused party in advance for 2028.

Although a definitive list of those impacted has not yet been made public, the NEC is anticipated to do so in the days ahead. Internal discussions are being held in the interim to address any leadership voids that may arise within the party.
