Qatar Airways Announces Its Most Profitable Year Ever

Qatar Airways Group has announced its strongest financial performance since inception, with a net profit of QAR 7.85 billion (about US $2.15 billion) for the fiscal year that ended on March 31, 2025, a 28% increase over the year before.

After turning a profit of about QAR 6.15 billion (~US $1.6 billion) in 2023–2024, the Group’s profit increased to US $2.15 billion.

Revenue realized was about US $23.4 billion, up from about US $22.1 billion the year before.

There were 43.1 million passengers, up from 40 million the previous year.

Cargo revenue also increased by 17%, resulting in the greatest performance since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Factors Contributing to the Achievement:

The company implemented a 2.0 strategy, a revitalized corporate endeavor that prioritized personnel development, digital innovation, and superior customer service to support outcomes.

The group’s aviation, cargo, catering, and duty-free divisions all saw increases in profitability as a result of investments in digitalization, data-driven decision-making, and operational efficiency.

In order to expand its network and market presence, Qatar Airways purchased 25% shares in Virgin Australia and Airlink, a small airline based in South Africa.

The Airline also announced the largest widebody aircraft order in Boeing history—up to 160 firm 777X and 787 jets (plus 50 options) powered by GE Aerospace engines, valued at around US $96 billion.

Expansion of Hamad International Airport added 17 new gates, enhancing capacity to serve up to 65 million passengers annually.

According to the Group CEO of Qatar Airways Badr Mohammed Al‑Meer, these record-breaking results are a testament to the hard work, skill and dedication of teams across all of Qatar Airways Group. He said, without the more than 55,000 employees worldwide—with a particular emphasis on developing talent through the company’s 2.0 strategy—the exceptional results would not have been achievable.

He also emphasized the role of strategic industry partnerships in helping the group stay agile amidst global political, economic, and environmental uncertainties.

Qatar Airways Is 2024′s “Airline Of The Year

Qatar Airways continues to compete among the world’s top long-haul carriers by capitalizing on its geographic hub between Europe and Asia, and its role in major global events like the 2022 FIFA World Cup provided an added post-pandemic boost.

The airline’s successful cargo operations and sustained investment in passenger experience—including award-winning Qsuites and Starlink Wi‑Fi—further solidify its premium positioning.

Qatar Airways Group achieved its strongest-ever financial results during FY 2024–25, due to sharply rising global demand, effective digital transformation, cargo growth, and bold strategic investments. This positions the airline for further expansion in connectivity, fleet size, and passenger experience.
