A Breakdown Of The Allocation Of The First Quarter 2025 Budget Approved By Parliament

The GH₵68.13 billion budget for the first quarter of 2025 has been approved by Ghana’s Parliament.

The mini-budget also details the new John Mahama administration’s detailed spending plans, which include GH₵3,123,221,785 for goods and services and GH₵16,462,828,490 for employee compensation.

The GH₵68,134,674,527 in expenditures is intended to support government operations in a number of economic sectors between January and March.

Breakdown of the Allocation:

• Interest payments— GH₵20,691,523,500

• Subsidies account— GH₵45,507,080

• Grants to other government units— GH₵9,193,773,211

• Social Benefits— GH₵234,703,983

• Other government expenditures for the quarter— GH₵5,293,248,499

• Total budgeted expenses amount to— GH₵64,508,623,999.

The government has also set aside GH₵1,280,544,603 for amortization and GH₵2,345,505,925 for arrears clearance, bringing the total authorized expenditure to GH₵68.13 billion.

The budget’s approval shows that the new administration is committed to meeting its major financial commitments and making sure that government operations run smoothly in the first few months of 2025.
