The Son of Wayne Rooney, Kai Rooney finished paperwork for Manchester United’s academy back in 2020. The teenage player has since featured for the young team, and is also faring very well off the pitch.
Kai is putting in more effort to achieve his dream of playing for Man United’s senior team like his famous father did.
With 253 goals scored in 13 years at Old Trafford and five Premier League titles, Wayne Rooney is one of Manchester United’s greatest players ever. The numbers speak for themselves.
Interestingly, another Rooney has arisen, Wayne Rooney’s 13-year-old child, Kai. He also possesses a lot of talent with the ball at his feet, like his father.
Kai was picked up by United’s academy in December 2020 after spending some time with Manchester City’s youth teams.
There were numerous discussions and doubters regarding his ability to perform like his father when he was picked up by the Red Devils. However, Kai has quickly dispelled the doubters.
The 13-year-old is currently playing a prominent role for Man United’s youth teams, where he scored 56 goals last season.
Playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo Jr, the child of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, Kai scored a stunning 56 goals in his most memorable full season with Manchester United’s under-12s.
Additionally, he had 28 assists during the campaign, demonstrating his selflessness. He is a goal scorer who’s also the most creative player in the team.
Kai signed a sponsorship deal in July 2022 with footwear giants Puma, following in his father’s footsteps. Major brands began to notice Kai’s exploits quickly.
He has since featured on an advertising poster for Panther with City defender Kyle Walker and pop star Dua Lipa as he proceeds with his ascent regardless of having just barely begun his young years.
Kai had 55.4K Instagram followers when he signed a contract with Puma. Since then, that number has doubled to 110,000 as more and more people want to follow his journey.
Kai promotes sports and fashion brands, including Cricket, his mother Coleen’s favorite clothing store, in addition to providing fans with regular updates about his still-developing football career.
The gifted youngster has gone from one solidarity to another and scored a brilliant individual goal during a kickabout in Dubai in November 2022.
Rooney became a fan favorite because he could make opponents’ players look weird and disorganized, especially when he was just starting out, and Kai seems like a kid from back in the day.
Kai Rooney also had a habit of scoring in big games. In 2011, he scored in the Champions League final against Barcelona, and he has an impressive record of 12 goals in 31 games against City.
His most well-known goal for United came in 2011 at Old Trafford, when he scored with a stunning bicycle kick to beat City 2-1.
Kai also tracked down the net against City in the under-13 National Cup North final a month ago. Again, he scored every one of the four goals in a 5-4 loss by Liverpool, prior to getting on the scoresheet again in a 2-0 win over City in the under-13 National Cup North final in Spring.
Kai and Wayne already share a number of similarities, and Rooney Jr., like his father, is a proud Evertonian.
However, Kai has only one club in mind that he wants to play for in the future.
He stated last month,
‘In 10 years, hopefully I will be playing in the Premier League for Man United… that’s where I see myself but I’ve got to make it happen with the hard work and everything behind the scenes,’ he said last month.
When Rooney made his debut to the British National in 2002 as a 16-year-old playing for Everton and scoring a stunning goal against Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger, he was a breath of fresh air.
From that point on, it was clear that he was going to be a superstar and one of the best players the world had ever seen.
That “Roooney” chant may return to Old Trafford in a few years if he continues on his current path. And Football will never forget his father.
