On Christmas Day (Sunday, December 25, 2022), a Nigerian policeman shot and killed a female lawyer named Bolanle Raheem in the Ajah area of Lagos State.
According to reports, the officer attempted to stop Raheem, her sister, and four minors as they drove home from a restaurant.
A person with direct knowledge of the situation claims that the officer who shot at the deceased driver’s vehicle attempted to make a U-turn under the Ajah Bridge in Nigeria. The policeman pulled a trigger, when he was attempting to halt the lawyer’s vehicle.
The victim was said to have been hit by the bullet; She was rushed to a hospital, where it was confirmed that she had passed away.

The official, who was supposed to be appended to the Ajah Police headquarters, unloaded his team, who was with him at the hour of the occurrence, and quickly ran away from the area.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed the incident by stating that, the officer had been arrested and is currently being held for an investigation and prosecution.
A spokesperson for the police says that the officer who shot the man is an ASP; who has been captured, confined, and will be moved to the State Criminal Examination Office, Panti, for additional examinations.
Senior police officers have been in touch with the family of the deceased and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in the interim, and they have given firm assurances that justice will unquestionably prevail.
In addition, the NBA has pledged to work toward achieving justice for Raheem.
