The Planning Committee of the 25th Anniversary of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has announced a new date for the opening of the Manhyia Palace Auditorium.
In an update conveyed during a meeting by the Asanteman Council on March 28, 2024, the Chairman of the board of trustees, Nana Otuo Sereboe, the Juabenhene, said the occasion will come off on the 15th of April, 2024.
Meanwhile, the event of the inauguration will happen at 11:00am.
The building which sits inside the Castle was before planned for opening on March 25, 2024; nonetheless, it has been postponed because of conditions beyond the control of the advisory committee.
“The building was supposed to be commissioned on March 25 but it had to be rescheduled due to delayed arrival of some items to furnish it as a result of the recent internet outage,” Nana Juabenhene explained.
In a speech, Otumfuo urged all traditional authorities who make up Asanteman to appear for the event in April.
“All must take note of this,” he said.
The structure will be named Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Jubilee Hall, the Chairman of the Planning Committee of Asantehene’s 25th Anniversary, Juabenhene Daasebre Otuo Serebuo announced when he first put out a date for its commissioning.
He expressed that because of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s unrivaled leadership, the advisory committee chose to demand naming it after him.
“The facility was single-handedly constructed by Otumfuo and so we pleaded for his permission to have it named after himself. It will be a long-lasting legacy to his name.”
The radiant and completely cooled office, he said, is three and half times the size of the 2,000-capacity Great Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

Underlining the basic requirement for the office, Juabenhene said the lobby would empower traditional authorities to host major events at the Palace as opposed to renting venues elsewhere and would accommodate as many audiences as possible.
The facility is expected to host some of the events slated for the 25th Anniversary of the King, such as a photo exhibition and a dinner.
