Pandemic

While Ghanaians are considering approaches to dispose of the ongoing Covid, another infectious Covid-19 variant, coming from India, the Delta Variant, has been recorded in Ghana.
Head of the West Africa Center for Cell Biology and Infectious Pathogens (WACCBIP) of the University of Ghana, Professor Gordon Awendare, affirmed that the Indian variant, otherwise called Delta, is one of the 45 variants which are at present in Ghana.
The Indian strain has caused colossal spikes in India, with a serious expansion in cases in the UK and a couple of other nations. According to records, there are near 46 distinct Variants. The pattern shows that this load of variants come from travelers.
It is expected that, the Delta (Indian Variant) may before long, arrive in Ghana in enormous amounts. Because of the weird nature of the variation, Professor Awendare has called on the government of Ghana to quickly implement the Covid-19 preventive protocols to stem an expected spread of this deadly variant.
Additionally, he said the controls at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) should be fixed to stop more importation of the variant.
