A new battery-electric vehicle from Nikola has been introduced into the market. The vehicle is the rendition of Nikola’s Tre semitruck which started on Monday March 28.
The battery-electric adaptation of the Tre is made for shorter routes, with an expected scope of around 350 miles.
A more extended territory rendition of the Tre, controlled by a hydrogen power module, is on target to start transporting late one year from now (2023).
Electric heavy truck startup Nikola announced earlier that it has started production of the battery-controlled rendition of its electric Tre semitruck at its industrial facility in Coolidge, Arizona, beating rival Tesla’s electric semitruck to market.
As per leaders of the organization, Nikola plans to start delivery of the trucks in the second quarter of this year. Meanwhile, production of the trucks for customers started on Monday March 28.
Nikola shares were up around 4% in late night trading following the declaration.
The battery-electric adaptation of the Tre is planned for more shorter routes, and Nikola hopes to manufacture somewhere in the range of 300 and 500 of the trucks this prior year sloping up production to a more elevated level in 2023.

Nikola’s once high-flying stock has drooped to single-digits since the takeoff of its founder, Trevor Milton, under a moral cloud in 2020. The organization has cut ties with Milton and has settled all outstanding claims related to his actions.

Milton was indicted last year on federal fraud charges related to statements he made before Nikola’s initial public offering.
Nikola plans to follow the battery-electric Tre with a version powered by a hydrogen fuel cell that will come with range of up to 500 miles, suitable for longer routes.
That will be followed by what Nikola calls a “next-generation” fuel-cell model in 2025, suitable for long-haul routes with up to 900 miles of range.
