The Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, often known as A-Plus, has officially apologized to Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine over a recent social media post issue.
The controversy started when a Twitter (X) account posing as A-Plus made accusations that Dr. Ayine had accepted cars and campaign funds from businessman Dr. Sledge, insinuating corruption.
In a news conference, the Attorney General addressed these assertions, disputing the accusations and asking A-Plus to produce proof.
A-Plus responded by stating that the alleged Twitter account was bogus and that he never made such claims. He made it clear that he had no control over the mimicking account and that his verified Facebook page is where he communicates officially.
A-Plus admitted, however, that his own Facebook post in response to Dr. Ayine’s press appearance was rude. He sincerely apologized to Dr. Ayine, Parliament, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and the general public for his unacceptable tone and word choice. He removed the controversial post as an act of regret, which is unusual for him.
A-Plus also denied any involvement or payment receipt in unrelated charges pertaining to the National Service Secretariat (NSS). He emphasized his dedication to due process and justice by stating that his only engagement was helping someone who was looking for media support to clean their name.
The Majority Leader has since intervened to mediate the situation, aiming to resolve tensions between the two officials.
