Kimberly Marasco, a poet from Florida, has sued Taylor Swift, claiming that Swift unfairly used her ideas and poetry in songs and music videos from several albums, such as “Lover,” “Folklore,” “Midnights,” and “The Tortured Poets Department.” Marasco is requesting damages totaling more than $30 million.
However, citing “severe difficulty” because of Swift’s several locations and stringent security measures, Marasco has had a tough time serving Swift with the court documents. Due to Marasco’s inability to serve Swift in a timely manner, a similar lawsuit was dismissed in December 2024.

Many of Marasco’s claims are “time-barred” under U.S. copyright law, which mandates that legal action be launched within three years of learning of the alleged infringement, according to Swift’s legal team, which has refuted the charges and is attempting to have the complaint dismissed.
Marasco is still working to serve Swift and pursue the complaint, so the case is still pending.
