A Unique Opportunity For Salomon Rondon To Break The All-Time Copa América Goals Record..

Venezuelan striker Salomon Rondon is approaching the all-time records for his country at the ongoing Copa América competition in the US.

After scoring a fantastic goal against Jamaica in their last Group Stage match, Rondon is tied as Venezuela’s untouched all-time scorer in the competition.

In the game against the Concacaf country, he also tied the record for the most appearances by a Venezuelan in the competition.

La Vinotinto got their third consecutive win in this edition of the competition with a 3-0 win over Jamaica, and are set for the Quarterfinals. While Venezuela left a mark on the world by dominating three straight matches in the competition interestingly, their Striker set up his name into the records books too.

The 34-year-old tied the Venezuelan record for the most goals in the competition with 6, following his goal against the Reggae Boyz on Sunday night and now shares the record with Jose Luis Dolgetta. After starting the match, he also tied the record for the most appearances (20), an accomplishment he currently shares with Venezuelan legend Juan Arango.

Rondon’s goal against Jamaica was his second of the 2024 edition of the competition. The first was against Mexico. His strike from the penalty spot guaranteed Venezuela with all the three points, as they won 1-0.

In the Quarterfinals against Canada on July 5 at AT&T Stadium, Rondon will get the opportunity to guarantee the two records by and large. A goal will give him the Venezuelan goalscoring record and if he plays in that game, he’ll have the appearance record.
