Adwoa Tiwaa Of Asomafo: A Lead Singer With A Powerful And Resounding Vocal Inspiration

Adwoa Tiwaa

One of the amazing vocalists with a remarkable natural gift of a thin but seductive voice is Maame Adwoa Tiwaa, who seems to be forgotten whenever people discuss Ghanaian musicians with vocal prowess.

Since she started singing many years ago, Tiwaa has been incredibly consistent. Before joining the Asomafo band with gospel legend Yaw Sarpong, the legendary singer played with a number of bands, the most recent of which was with Wofa Asomani, one of Ghana’s great gospel singers.

Since then, Maame Tiwaa has remained with this band (Asomafo) until now.

Tiwaa has been one of the ‘pillars’ of the well-known Asomafo music group. With her natural, distinctive, and remarkable voice, she has collaborated with Yaw Sarpong to produce numerous gospel hits over the years.

These hit songs include, among many others, Ede Ben Na Awurade Ntumi Nnye, Wo Haw Ne Sen, Waye Awie, Awurade Na Aye, Eishadai, Tenabea Foforo, Oko Yi, and Hwan Na Adwendwen Da Noso.

In addition to performing with Yaw Sarpong, Tiwaa has entertained people with her lovely and distinctive voice, which has remained unaffected by age, at numerous social and private events, such as corporate gatherings, funerals, parties, weddings, and music awards.

You might mistakenly believe that Tiwaa’s live performance is an audio recording for a brief moment. Her lovely voice sounds just as lovely as it does in the recording studios.

You can actually still hear the strength in Maame Tiwaa’s voice in every song she produces, even with Yaw Sarpong’s incredible vocal ability on stage.

The human voice is undoubtedly the world’s oldest musical instrument, but Tiwaa uses it in a unique and remarkable way to the delight of many fans.

Alongside Yaw Sarpong, she has inspired millions of people over the years.

Unfortunately, Tiwaa has never received recognition for her vocal prowess or consistency at the Ghana Music Awards, the biggest and most prestigious music event.

However, she was once honoured by 3Music Women’s Brunch at the Creative Impact Award for her unprecedented efforts to inspire lives.

After years of entertaining the world with her amazing voice, perhaps organizers of Ghana Music Awards (GMA) should also consider honoring this talent.

Her singing has a fine tone and clear phonetics produced by her vocal cords. She differs from voiceless consonants and whispering, which are just breath sounds.

Yaw Sarpong and the Asomafo:

An indigenous and inspirational gospel music group with practical applications, Yaw Sarpong and the Asomafo has been around for more than 40 years.
