
African Development Bank Group will celebrate 60 years of groundbreaking impact on Africa’s development on Monday 9-10 September 2024 in Abidjan.
Côte d’Ivoire’s economic capital, Abidjan, will host the event online.
The diamond jubilee celebration, which will have the theme “60 Years of Making a Difference,” will highlight the Bank’s journey since its founding on September 10, 1964, as well as its outlook for the continent’s future.
Additionally, there will be a staff event with cultural and traditional music performances; conversations on the Bank’s institutional impression; a display; a seminar for community members, including students, young entrepreneurs, and members of civil society; and a Symposium of the Staff Council.
Events for the first day, 10 September, will feature the Bank’s critical achievements and impact on Africa’s economic development throughout the course of recent many years.
Cote D’Ivoire’s senior government officials, diplomatic corps members, and representatives of various international organizations will join the celebrations, as will the Bank Group’s staff, leadership, and Board of Directors also join in.
The day will also include traditional performances and goodwill messages from African leaders and the Bank’s development partners. There will be recognition of the winner of the staff competition for the Bank’s 60th anniversary logo.
The African Development Bank Group will also launch a Youth Community of Practice (Y-CoP) and an Intergenerational Dialogue on Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development in Africa.

The Y-COP is a new knowledge hub platform for youth from Africa and the rest of the world to engage in critical thinking and peer-to-peer learning while identifying evidence-based youth solutions to build resilient and sustainable growth in Africa.
