Akpafu-Todzi: One Of The Unique Villages In Ghana

An aerial view of Akpafu-Todzi

When I first arrived at Akpafu-Todzi in the Akpafu traditional area of the Jasikan Municipality District in the Oti Region of Ghana, I strongly sensed that I had visited one of the beautiful and unique villages in Ghana. Yes, I had been to two or three of these villages where I got back with such a lot of information, but Akpafu-Todzi is one of a kind.

This is one of the beautiful villages if not the most gorgeous in that frame of mind on mountains. At Akpafu-Todzi village, the feeling is nearly not the same as the others. There is a plentiful supply of food here due to the large number of people in farming.

As a matter of fact, about 80% of the inhabitants here are farmers, and while you walk through the delightful set up hamlet, which also has a decent settlement, you could see that all homes are fairly vacant during the day.

They have all rushed to the farms, ensuring there is a wealth of food varieties in homes for everybody. Historically, before larger part of the occupants went into cultivating or farmers, there was a big discovery of iron ore here at Akpafu-Todzi.

In the past, the town was one of the locales of the conventional iron industry of the Akpafu people. The iron industry ended in the late nineteenth century, but there are still some ancient mines nearby that can be visited.

As a result, when this occurred, practically the entirety of their progenitors became peasant famers, and from that point forward, it has been a generational point of reference for the cutting edge residents.

The village has nearly all that a metropolitan settlement also boast of including a burial ground, schools, emergency clinics, network roads and numerous others that makes a complete dwelling or residence. The verdure, feeling, welcoming people, and quiet environment are some of the attractions that may captivate you to stay longer than planned when you visit.

Reasons Why Many Women Do Not Pursue Careers In Tourism

The number of inhabitants in the occupants of Todzi is around 700-800. They call themselves the Mawu and speak Siwu, a Kwa language that is very unmistakable from the predominant territorial dialects Ewe and Twi.

The Siwu name for the town is kaa I kato, or “home as high as possible”. The oldest of the five Akpafu villages, Todzi functions as the capital of the traditional area and its chief is the paramount chief of Akpafu.

Because of the low populace, there isn’t such a lot of crimes here. However, the population is expected to rise soon, as the years go by, particularly as there will be relationships and lots more.
