Akple Festival 2023: The Food, Crowd, Performances And More

Akple Festival 2023, Ghana’s most exciting food and music festival, held its third edition with a lot of partiers having a great time.

This year’s festival was very different, as thousands of people gathered at Dzorwulu, a suburb of Accra, to have the time of their lives and have fun. The majority of the crowd had already gathered to watch the activities when I arrived. Additionally, attending Akple Festival 2023 was a beautiful experience.

People had just arrived at Mmofra’s Place (a beautiful garden in Dzorwulu) to celebrate Ghana’s Independence Day in cultural splendor and awe. Assortments of rich local foods were in plain view whiles great native music was also accessible to draw people unto the dance floor.

This year’s festival, which was called; “Discover the good life” brought together more than thirty food vendors to serve guests dishes like “Akple” with “Abobitaadi,” “Fetritoto,” “ademe,” and other supplements, as well as “banku” and “tilapia” spiced with vegetables, among other popular Ghanaian dishes.

The festival was to see the value in what is local and push for additional native items, therefore as Ghana’s Freedom day falls on 6th March consistently, coordinators planned as a day to celebrate and free themselves from what is western but their our own.

This day was chosen by organizers to commemorate or return to indigenous, cultural, and heritage values. In addition, using food, music, and a bubbly atmosphere like this at the Akple festival 2023 is the best way to celebrate this.

The festival was a day of music and an enthusiastic crowd to go along with it. Denyigba Lorlor Borborbor Band performed for the benefit of the crowd. They broke the ice with an impressive cultural performance, which brought many people, including foreigners, to the dance floor and made them want to join in the fun. An out-of-this-world musical performance was also provided by the God’s Gift Brass Band, whose energy never ceases.

The Adaha Dance Band, who were the highlight of the show, had the crowd jumping for joy. The Band performed a plethora of high-life tunes that the audience couldn’t help but sing and dance to, transporting patrons into the Independence era and the new skul music era.

The annual Akple Festival is a food and music event that gives people a one-of-a-kind chance to eat delicious food while listening to good indigenous music. The event happens every Freedom Day and has been so for some years now.
