At the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development’s (EBID) esteemed Annual Board of Governors Meeting, held at the renowned Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Center in Banjul, The Gambia, Ghana’s delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Finance Thomas Nyarko Ampem.
On April 14, 2025, the Board of Governors of the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) held its 23rd Annual General Meeting (AGM). The rotating leadership idea, which was established during the first Board of Governors conference in Lomé, Togo, in 2003, is used to host this event.
The 15 ECOWAS member states’ finance ministers and central bank governors convened at the AGM to discuss financing for regional development, assess the effectiveness of EBID, and plan for upcoming projects. Infrastructure investment, the expansion of the private sector, and funding for sustainable development were among the main subjects covered.
Hon. Seedy K.M. Keita, the current Chairman of the EBID Board of Governors and the Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs of The Gambia, met with EBID Secretary General Mr. Abdoulaye Coulibaly during a field visit in advance of the AGM. In order to ensure a successful meeting, the discussions centered on logistical arrangements, such as lodging, transportation, and technical requirements.
This AGM comes after EBID approved a large investment package of €230 million and $10 million to support infrastructure development and private sector operations throughout West Africa at the 91st Ordinary Board Meeting, which was conducted virtually on April 3, 2025.
The outcomes of the 23rd AGM are anticipated to further EBID’s mission of fostering economic integration and sustainable development within the ECOWAS region.
