Allyson Is The Most Decorated US Athlete In Olympics History

On Friday August 6, Felix overshadowed Jamaica’s Merlene Ottey for the most decorations by any female track athlete in Olympic history in the wake of winning bronze in the 400-meter final.

During the Tokyo Olympics 2020, she helped Team USA win the womens’ 400m run relay. This was Felix’s eleventh Olympic award and her seventh gold, overwhelming sprint legend Carl Lewis’ take of ten (10) decorations.

As though that is all, she also remains one shy of Finland’s Paavo Nurmi untouched olympic style sports record of 12 awards.

Interestingly, the first event of which she competed in an Olympics was as far back as 2004 in Athens. Allyson Felix has made considerable progress through various challenges up until this point. She really went through difficult situations even prior to showing up at the Olympics to work.

In November 2018, she battled with toxemia and had a crisis C-section at 32 weeks to deliver her daughter Camryn. With loads of determination, Felix had to adjust to her training plan, rehearsing on void soccer fields and sea shores during the underlying phases of the pandemic in 2020.

This was all to perform well at the 2020 Japan Olympics, as she had consistently wanted to win. Truth be told, she made a decent attempt to overlook all challenges and continued ‘searching for gold’ through her steady training and rehearsing.

Away from her work as an olympic track and field athlete, she is also ‘vociferous’ about social injustice, and has severally made expressions against bad form meted at people, especially women. She’s been a huge mentor and a motivation for some in and rising athletes because of her triumphant spirit.

Allyson Felix was only 18 when she originally represented her country in an Olympics.
