Through a number of events and partnerships, Ghanaian highlife icon Amakye Dede will mark his 50th anniversary in the music business. On June 14, 2025, a concert at London’s Dominion Centre will kick off the festivities.
On June 1, 2024, Amakye Dede received the 25th Telecel Ghana Music Awards’ Lifetime Achievement Award in acknowledgment of his enormous impact. His outstanding contributions to highlife music over the previous fifty years were honored with this honor.
In keeping with the celebrations, modern Ghanaian musician Black Sherif also honored Amakye Dede by titling his next album “Iron Boy,” a reference to one of Dede’s well-known songs. This action demonstrates how Dede’s music continues to influence younger audiences.
A globe tour will be held as part of the festivities, with shows in different nations to commemorate this momentous occasion. Honoring Amakye Dede’s legacy and bringing his timeless music to a wider audience are the goals of the tour.
