An American Man Sentenced To Death In China

An American man has been sentenced to death in China for lethally stabbing a 21-year-old woman who attempted to break up their relationship.

Shadeed Abdulmateen was sentenced on Thursday April 21 after a trial in the Intermediate People’s Court of Ningbo, a city in China’s eastern seaside area of Zhejiang.

Abdulmateen met the lady in question, distinguished exclusively by her family name, Chen, in 2019 and went into a serious relationship with her. After some time, she asked for a break up. But Abdulmateen didn’t like the move, therefore organized to meet her at a bus station in Ningbo.

At the meeting, Abdulmateen stabbed her to death in the evening of June 14, 2021, with a folding sharp knife he had carried fully intent on killing her, the report said.

The trial was attended by in excess of 20 people, including government officials and people from public. The court ruled that the realities encompassing Chen’s homicide were particularly offensive and resulted in a serious outcomes.

The report said, Abdulmateen had been provided with a defense, translation services and consular visits, but gave no details on his hometown or how he came to reside in China.

A U.S. Embassy spokesperson said the Embassy was aware of the sentence and monitoring the situation, but for privacy reasons, could not offer further comment.
