Andre Ayew Figures AFCON Is One Of The Difficult Tournaments Than The World Cup

Captain of the Black Stars of Ghana, Andre Ayew says the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is the ‘hardest tournament’ in the world ahead of the latest edition in Ivory Coast.

Ayew is set to lead the Stars for their second continental competition in Ivory Coast after his most memorable in Cameroon where the team partook in a terrible campaign.

The Black Stars will be participating in the competition for the 25th time since it began in 1957, but they have not won the trophy since 1982.

As indicated by Ayew– the Le Havre forward, the biennial competition is very difficult to win compared with the FIFA World Cup.

“This tournament is even harder than the World Cup. “We know that it is the hardest tournament, for me, in the world when it comes to fighting, determination, and energy so the only way we can do this is by being together and being united, and for that Your Excellency, I can assure you that we are united and we want to do it,” he said during the team’s farewell dinner with Ghana’s president, Nana Akufo-Addo on Tuesday night.

Chris Hughton and his players showed up in Abidjan on Wednesday, January 10, and held their first training session aheas of the beginning of the competition on Saturday, January 13.
