Andrew Mitchell Is The New Senior Advisor To The President Of The African Development Bank Group

The Right Honorable Andrew Mitchell has been appointed as the African Development Bank Group President Dr. Akinwumi Adesina’s pro bono Senior Advisor on resource mobilization and policy matters.

With effect from April 7, 2025, Rt. Hon. Mitchell will offer strategic counsel on new concerns of regional and global development as well as high-level political stakeholder engagement.

Rt. Hon. Mitchell has vast knowledge and experience in handling the intricacies of international resource mobilization, and he is enthusiastic about Africa’s development.

Rt. Hon. Mitchell made the following statement regarding his appointment:

“It is a great pleasure to return to provide pro bono support to the African Development Bank Group’s brilliant team in this advisory role. Under Dr. Adesina’s leadership as President, the Bank has gone from strength to strength, delivering real change and development for people across Africa.”

In response, Dr. Adesina, President of the African Development Bank Group, also said,

“The Rt. Hon. Andrew Mitchell, former Minister of State for Development and Africa of the United Kingdom, has been a great supporter of Africa and the African Development Bank’s work. He will advise and support me on a pro bono basis in our efforts to navigate the complex global dynamics of mobilizing more resources for Africa globally”.
