Fidelity Bank Ghana has announced the GreenTech Innovation Challenge (GTIC) 2024 as a significant step toward moving Ghana’s agricultural sector toward a more sustainable future.
Over GHS 1 million in grant funding will be given out as part of this initiative to help come up with creative solutions to important problems in the agricultural value chain of the country.
By giving innovators and businesses in Ghana the tools they need to launch or scale their GreenTech solutions, the GTIC 2024 aims to empower them. These arrangements can possibly reform Ghana’s rural area, guaranteeing an additional practical and useful future.
The Managing Director of the bank, Julian Opuni, accentuated the bank’s commitment to supporting the agricultural sector.
He stated,
“Our commitment to agriculture is not new,” he stated. “During the 3i Africa Summit in May 2024, we announced the expansion of our Fidelity Young Entrepreneurs Initiative through the introduction of an AgricTech competition. We recognize the immense potential of technological solutions in the Agric sector, and the GTIC is a significant step forward in nurturing this potential.”
Mr. Opuni also talked about how important it is to get Ghana’s young people involved:
“Africa boasts of a youthful population, with over 60% under the age of 25. However, the agricultural sector often fails to capture the imagination of this demographic. The GTIC is designed to change that. We want to attract young, tech-savvy minds and empower them to develop innovative solutions that will transform Ghana’s agricultural landscape. We are excited to see the incredible ideas that emerge and become catalysts for progress.”
The GTIC is carefully designed to empower innovators at three distinct development stages.
The Ideation Tier is for creative people who have novel, ground-breaking ideas that can solve specific problems facing agriculture.
Members in this level will be outfitted with the assets and backing expected to transform their ideas into noteworthy arrangements, laying the basis for significant GreenTech arrangements.
This program targets organizations with laid out GreenTech arrangements that have proactively exhibited achievement. Supporting these solutions’ expansion and elevation in order to maximize their positive impact is the new focus here.

Lastly, the Commercialization Tier is for established businesses that want to expand their reach and have GreenTech products that are ready for the market.
The focus shifts to assisting businesses in navigating the commercial landscape and ensuring that their GreenTech solutions have a positive impact on the general public as well as commercial success.
The GreenTech Innovation Challenge is now accepting applications and will continue to do so until July 21, 2024.
The challenge’s website, GreenTech challenge, provides applicants with detailed information about the categories, eligibility requirements, and application procedure.
The challenge will come to a close with exciting pitching events at which the winners will present their solutions to a distinguished jury. In addition to receiving grant funding, winners will also receive invaluable mentorship and the opportunity to scale their innovations.
The Bank’s commitment to driving sustainable development and empowering the next generation of agricultural innovators is exemplified by our GreenTech Innovation Challenge.
