
To apply for the new embedded-chip Ghana passport (also known as the biometric passport), follow these steps:
Visit the official Ghana Passport Application website: https://passport.mfa.gov.gh
• Create an account or log in if you already have one.
• Choose the passport application type (new, renewal, lost, etc.).
• Fill out the application form accurately.
Pay for the Application: You can pay using mobile money, credit/debit card, or bank payment (GCB/eVouchers).
• You can pay online via:
Mobile Money (MTN, Vodafone, AirtelTigo)
• Visa/MasterCard
• At a participating bank (GCB Bank or others listed)
Fees:
GHS 100 – 32-page standard passport
GHS 150 – 48-page standard passport
GHS 200–250 – Expedited service

Book an Appointment
After payment, book an appointment at your preferred Passport Application Centre (PAC), such as Accra, Kumasi, Tamale, or Ho.
Attend Your Appointment: Bring the following:
• A printed copy of your completed application form
• Birth certificate
• Ghana Card
• Passport-sized photos (some centers take biometric photos on-site)
• Guarantor’s form (must be filled and signed by a qualified Ghanaian professional)
• Proof of profession (if applicable)
Biometric Capture:
Your photo, fingerprints, and signature will be captured at the PAC.
Wait for Processing:
Processing usually takes 2–4 weeks for standard and 1 week or less for expedited service.
You’ll be contacted when it’s ready for collection.
