Wojciech Szczesny is supposedly set to join Barcelona as a substitution goalkeeper, as indicated by reports.
Prior to the expiration of his Juventus contract, the former Arsenal goalkeeper had announced his retirement.
However, he will now stop at Barcelona, one of the biggest clubs in the world.
After Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s shocking knee injury prematurely ended his season, the two teams have reached an agreement.
During Barca’s 5-1 win over Villarreal, German international Ter Stegen, 32, was stretchered off the field. Manager Hansi Flick said in an interview that he knew right away that it was a “huge injury.”
Barcelona’s choices to get a substitution were restricted after a past decision concluded clubs would at this point not have the option to sign a player from another club, as they did on account of Martin Braithwaite from Leganes in 2020.
Szczesny was among a waitlist of names to step into the void between the posts at the LaLiga and Champions League contender’s, as well as former Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas.

Before joining the rest of Hansi Flick’s team, he will now undergo a medical in Spain later this week.
He can also get up to 80% of Ter Stegen’s £7.5 million salary from the club.
In the mean time, the 34-year old, who amassed 84 caps for Poland, had shown up for Juventus more than seven years after joining from Arsenal for £12.5m.
