The King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has expressed that he has sustained his uprightness, moral standards and virtues in his judgements all through his 25-year rule over the Asante Kingdom.
In his speech during a visit to the Manhyia Palace by Sub-Metro, Municipal and District Imams of the Ashanti Region led by the Regional Imam, Sheik Abdul Mumin Haroun on Saturday, May 18, 2024, he stated that he has been faithful to the vow he swore since he rose the Golden Stool.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II credited the profound support he gets from religious bodies through prayers.
“My position requires prayers. All I need is prayers. I always tell Nananom that I am not here because of my good looks and if I would be able to deliver on my mandate, it will take the direction of the one who put me here. Looking at how far I have come which is garnering commendations from all around, the credit goes to your prayers.
“I swore to be loyal and honest 25 years ago and I pray that God gives me the spirit to stay true to the oath. I don’t need money. To the glory of Allah, I have never taken a bribe from anyone to deliver a judgment in their favour. All I seek is your prayers and the support of Allah. I appeal to all Imams across to remember me in their daily supplications”, the King said.
