Ghana’s President Akufo-Addo has showered praises on the King of the Ashanti Kingdom, Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for helping him to bring lasting peace to Dagbon, which prompted the enskinment of another Ya-Na.
As per the President, that achievement ranks amongst Otumfuo’s very best. On 27 January 2022, when the President received the Otumfuo commemorative gold coin, he said it was fitting that the King was honoured with the stamping of the memorial gold coin.
“Otumfuo deserves the gold coin honour”, the President stated.
The roadmap to peace, reconciliation, and reunification in Dagbon was initiated by President Kufuor and completed during the presidency of Nana Akufo-Addo.
The commemorative gold coin was issued to recognise Otumfuo’s leadership role in restoring peace to Dagbon and his other peace initiatives.
Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, led a strong delegation from the E ON 3 Group and its key partners to present the coin to the President.

As key partners, E ON 3 Group issued the gold coin in collaboration with its key partners made up of Manhyia Palace, KLG Group, Access Bank Plc, Gold Coast Refinery Limited, Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), GLICO General, and Coronation Insurance Company Limited.
Currently, Otumfuo is working to resolve the bloody Bawku chieftaincy dispute, and according to the King, he has been listening to all the parties as a feature of the cycle to get the matter settled, to quiet down the firearms in Bawku for harmony to prevail.
The general expectation of Ghanaians is that the wisdom that Otumfuo applied to bring peace to Dagbon will also be replicated in the Bawku dispute.
