Azerbaijani archer Yaylagul Ramazanova stunned the world with her Olympic victory while pregnant. She has been competing in the archery heats at the Paris 2024 Olympics. While carrying an unborn baby, she won a surprise victory.
“I felt my baby kick me before I shot this last arrow, and then I shot a 10,” the first-time Olympian, who is six and a half months pregnant”, she stated when she spoke to Xinhua News on August 5.
Ramazanova shot a 10, the greatest number of points, and the score she really wanted to overcome China’s A Qixuan, who had been tipped to win this duel.
“During the training for the Olympics, I didn’t feel uncomfortable with my pregnancy. Instead, I felt that I was not fighting alone, but fighting together with my baby,” she said.
“What appears to you as two players on the podium, they were actually three! It was me, my competitor, & my yet-to-come-to-our-world, little baby!”
Ramazanova was unfortunately beaten during the next round, but she said she was fulfilled in light of the fact that she “gave a valiant effort.”

Yaylagul Ramazanova, an archer, is the first athlete from her country to compete in this sport.
Meanwhile, archer Casey Kaufhold of Team USA, who is ranked No. 1 in the world, was exceptionally dazzled with Ramazanova’s accomplishment.
“I think it’s awesome for this archer that one day, she can tell her kid, ‘Hey, I went to the Olympic Games and you were there, too,’” Kaufhold said.
The athlete added that she and her unborn child have had their “reasonable share of challenges,” both “physical” and “emotional” throughout the event due to the pregnancy, but rode out to achieve what she did.
