Barcelona Celebrates 125th Anniversary With Special Guests And Great Players

The event at the Teatre del Liceu is one of the many events honoring FC Barcelona’s 125th anniversary.

Top Barça players from the team’s history were also in attendance to contribute to a very special evening for Barça supporters around the globe.

Several members of the ‘Dream Team’ were present at the gala with Ronald Koeman, Carlos Rexach, José Mari Bakero, Hristo Stoichkov, Chiki Begiristain, José Ramón Alexanco, Guillermo Amor, Eusebio Sacristán, Julio Salinas, Andoni Goikoetxea, Albert Ferrer, Sergi Barjuan, Carlos Busquets and Jesús Angoy in attendance.

Also present were members of the first European Cup Winners Cup side; Juan Manuel Asensi, Pello Artola, Pedro Valentín Mora, Tente Sánchez, Miguel Bernardo Bianquetti “Migueli”, Rafa Zubiría, Antonio Olmo and Julio Alberto Moreno.

Frank Rijkaard, Anderson de Souza Deco, Gerard Piqué, Rafa Márquez, Xavi Hernández, Henrik Larsson, and game-winning Juliano Belletti were all part of the team that won the 2006 Champions League in Paris.

Jordi Cruyff, Patrick Kluivert, Sonny Anderson, Fernando Couto, Gaizka Mendieta, Xavi Escaich, Bojan Krkic, Fernando Navarro, Manuel Agudo “Nolito”, Jofre Mateu, Oscar García Junyent, Jonathan Soriano and Juan Pablo Sorín were also there as well as Jordi Roura, assistant coach to Tito Vilanova the day that Barça played against Levante with 11 players from La Masia.

The former coach of Barça Women, Xavi Llorens, was also at the Liceu when the team won its first league title in 2011–12.

In addition to former football greats, the Club had strong representation in its other professional sports.

At the Palau Sant Jordi, members of the basketball team that won the Euroleague were represented by Juan Carlos Navarro, Dejan Bodiroga, Rodrigo de la Fuente and Gregor Fucka. Legends Nacho Solozabal, Andrés Jiménez as was Audie Norris. Erazem Lorbek, champion with Barça when they won their second Euroleague title, was also present. Manolo Flores, Pedro Ansa, Juan de la Cruz, Lluis Miquel Santillana and Roger Esteller were also at the Liceu.

From handball Enric Masip, Oscar Grau, Joan Sagalés, Xavier O’Callaghan, Andrei Xèpkin, Eugeni Serrano, Milan Kalina and Tomas Svensson; from roller hockey Jordi Vila-Puig, Sergi Panadero, Gaby Cairo, and from futsal Jordi Torras, Fernandao, Ari Santos and Paco Sedano all come together at the Liceu to make sure all of Barça successes and history was represented at the 125th anniversary gala.
