
Veteran Highlife performer, Bessa Simons has been named as the new MUSIGA president. During the elections which was recently held under the support of the Electoral Commission of Ghana, the veteran Highlife performer beat his main opponent Ras Caleb, to become the new President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA).
Bessa, who had been the Acting MUSIGA president since Bice Osei Kuffour resigned polled a sum of 324 votes, with Ras Caleb getting 66 votes. The election, which occurred in every one of the districts, had a decent turnout of MUSIGA members who came in to exercise their freedoms to cast a ballot.

The election is expected to bring to rest every one of the delayed conflicts among members from the Union after the elections was postponed multiple times. The new President, Bessa Simons has promised to work eagerly to propel the interests of artists the nation over.
His win and tenure is supposed to introduce a time of innovation and growth for the Union and the Ghanaian music industry in general. He featured the significance of solidarity and joint effort withib MUSIGA, underlining that “together, we can achieve great strides in the music industry.”
