At the Nottingham grass court tournament on Saturday, Katie Boulter and Jodie Burrage set up the first all-British WTA Tour final in 46 years.
Boulter beat Heather Watson 6-4, 7-5, while 131st-ranked Burrage beat Alize Cornet, a former top 20 player from France, 7-5, 7-5.
In 1977, Sue Barker defeated Virginia Wade in the WTA Tour’s last all-British final in San Francisco.

Katie Boulter says that this historic matchup means a lot to her, especially here at the finals.
“I just tried to put my heart on the line, and I managed to get through it in the end.”
After a difficult week on the Nottingham grass courts, Jodie Burrage reached the final by defeating Magdalena Frech and Australian Open semifinalist Magda Linette in three hours.
Burrage stated,
“I wasn’t expecting this coming into this week, not going to lie, but I’m very happy with my performance today”
“I was saying to myself at the end there … ‘Jodie, you’re winning this in two sets. You’re not playing three. I don’t have that in me.’ Maybe I should say that to myself more often.”
