Legendary boxer Azumah Nelson, affectionately referred to as “The Professor,” has launched the “Zoom Zoom Clinics,” a new initiative designed to inspire young people.

The initiative was launched on Thursday, July 4, 2024, at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly in partnership with GCB Bank, the Ministry of Education, the Ghana Boxing Federation, and the Ghana Education Service.

There will be clinics in four regions: Northern, Central, Ashanti, and Geater Accra, expecting to consolidate mentorship, boxing training, and community commitment to inspire and enable youngsters.

The former world champion is putting his passion and experience to use in a program to help young people as part of his giving back to society.

“I was sitting down and planning because this is Ghana, this is our country, these are our children. What can we do for them to stand firm so that they can take over when we are not there? This is why I said no, let me come with this Zoom Zoom Clinic so that I can go to them and talk to them.”

“Nothing comes easy and respect takes you far, and you have to learn. It is not only about boxing, it is about everything.”

Mustapha Ussif, the minister of sports in Ghana, stated at the launch that the government would support this significant initiative. He claims that the government is so committed to ensuring that they will provide financial support for the program and that they will provide whatever support they have to make this initiative a success.
