In a speech read on her behalf, the Managing Director of Ghana Airports Company Limited, Mrs Pamela Djamson-Tettey congratulated British Airways, and said:
‘’As you may be aware, British Airways has been flying into Ghana for over 80 years now, offering direct flight services from London Heathrow to Accra. Currently, British Airways operates daily flights to Kotoka International Airport, and we look forward to additional frequencies in the nearest future’’
In a bold articulation, she further expressed that, the GACL would give British Airways routes the required help for smooth operations at Kotoka International Airport. She made a move to stretch out appreciation to all partners for their significant commitment in the acknowledgment of GACL’s vision of situating Ghana as the Favored Flight Center point and Leader in Air terminal Business in West Africa.
The British High Commissioner, Her Excellency, Madam Harriet Thompson congratulated British Airways on the launch of the new route. She indicated that the additional route would offer travellers from Ghana and the United Kingdom the opportunity to connect for purposes of education, business, cultural and family visits.

The Honourable Minister of Transport whose speech was read by the Chief Director, Ministry of Transport, Madam Mabel Sagoe described the addition of the Gatwick-Accra route as an honour and testament to the growth potential and attractiveness of the aviation sector in Ghana.
He noticed the well established connection between Ghana and the United Kingdom and expressed confidence that the new route would boost economic activities and create more job opportunities for the two countries.
British Airways will operate three times a week from Gatwick to Accra; Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays in addition to its daily flights from London Heathrow to Accra.
