At the 16th Advertisers Association of Ghana (AAG) Gong Gong Awards, which took place over the weekend in Accra, CalBank Plc was recognized as the most admired indigenous bank and the eighth most admired Ghanaian brand by Brand Africa 100.
Over 80,000 brand mentions and 3,500 distinct brand names were found across the continent in the 2022 survey, which was carried out in March and April.
The survey is carried out by Geopoll, the most prominent mobile-based research company in the world. Kantar, the largest information research company in the world, and Brand Leadership, Africa’s foremost branding, strategic communications, and intellectual property advisory firm, collaborated closely to provide the survey’s insights.
At the ceremony, Thebe Ikalafeng, Chairman and Founder of Brand Africa, made the following remarks:
“Ghana has some excellent brands that will do well beyond its borders. As the base of the AfCFTA which seeks to drive intra-Africa trade, it puts Ghana in a good position to lead the continent and showcase the potential of multi-national African brands that transform the continent.”
Talking on the rankings, Francis Dadzie, Leader Overseer of the Promoting Relationship of Ghana, said,
“it is astonishing to see a gladly Ghanaian brand in the Main 100 – and shows the potential that Ghanaian brands must be perceived and have offer past our lines.”
“Despite volumes of brands analyzed as a result of increased sample size in terms of respondents and countries, the survey continues to yield a very consistent picture of brands and trends that are transforming the continent,” according to Karin Du Chenne, Chief Growth Officer Africa Middle East for Kantar. She has served as the insight lead for Brand Africa since the program’s inception in 2010.
Philip Owiredu, MD of CalBank, stated,
“We are excited to have been acknowledged on such a platform,” while expressing gratitude to all stakeholders for the Bank’s recognition. As we labored incessantly to ensure that the brand is positioned in the minds of Ghanaians, this achievement is undoubtedly a cause for celebration for all. It would not have been possible without your input and contribution. As we intensify our brand building and management in 2023, we trust that you will continue to be our partner.
