CalBank PLC has launched ‘BeINsured,’ Ghana’s first USSD-based auto insurance marketplace, in collaboration with MTN Ghana and fintech company BlueSPACE Africa Technologies.
Without requiring internet access, this cutting-edge platform lets car owners buy insurance plans, pay premiums, and handle claims all from their smartphones.
Users can access a number of top insurance companies, compare policies, and choose the options that best fit their needs by dialing *170#.
Drivers in remote areas and those looking for quick, dependable insurance solutions will especially benefit from the initiative, which will help improve financial inclusion and increase the penetration of auto insurance in Ghana.
The collaboration makes use of MTN Mobile Money (MoMo) to make premium payments and claims processing easier.
Customers can pay premiums and receive claims straight through their mobile wallets thanks to the platform’s simple payment options, according to Sylvia Otuo Acheampong, Chief Product Officer at Mobile Money Limited.
CalBank’s Head of Digital and Inclusive Banking, Martha Quaye, also underlined that this partnership supports the bank’s goal of extending mobile financial services outside of traditional banking.

Martha Quaye says, as part of their strategy, they have concentrated on digital transformation, some of which call for partner collaboration. This platform has been used for that purpose.
Kwame Play, BlueSPACE’s Revenue Operations Lead, also expressed confidence that “BeINsured” will have a positive impact on accessibility and trust in the insurance industry. He pointed out that the goal of bringing together the top insurers in the market is to boost market share and offer a more convenient, clear auto insurance experience.
