Carrie Underwood Makes History: Now The Most Awarded Artist Ever At The CMTs

Kane Brown and Kelsea Ballerini were the host of the 2021 CMT Awards held at Nashville on Wednesday night May 9.

Furthermore, the ceremony was especially for country music artists with a portion of the industry’s biggest stars hitting the stage, including Chris Stapleton, H.E.R., Dierks Bentley, Chris Young, Luke Combs, Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert and Thomas Rhett.

Various performers were winners at the event with Carrie Underwood and John Legend bringing home the coveted award for Video of the Year at the 2021 CMT Music Awards.

Underwood and John Legend collaborated for “Hallelujah” in 2020, and in spite of some solid contest in the category, the two were tops. The CMT Awards’ voting was done by fans on Twitter.

Carrie Underwood has severally won this award, making her the most awarded artist ever at the CMTs. For John Legend, this is his first CMT win.

Subsequent to winning the honor, this is what Underwood had to say:

“Fans, thank you so much, fans. You guys, you are the reason we are all here doing what we do, doing what we love, making music videos,” Underwood said during her speech. “John Legend, thank you for sending me this incredible song and agreeing to sing with me on it and making this incredible video that I am so proud of, and congratulations on what I think is your first CMT Award! God bless you guys. Thank you so much! Thank you, fans! Thank you, CMT!”

John Legend was grateful and took to Twitter to express gratitude toward Carrie Underwood, director Randee St. Nicholas, and his co-author Toby Gad. John Legend noticed that Gad additionally co-composed his hit “All of Me.”
