Chelsea will have to pay Man United a sum to reclaim Jadon Sancho after they turned down their offer to buy him permanently due to his violation of the obligation clause.
This summer, the Blues will not fulfill their £25 million commitment to sign the player on a permanent basis. Rather, they will release themselves from the commitment by paying Manchester United a £5 million penalty.
After failing to reach a personal agreement to prolong his stay at Chelsea, Sancho will return to United at the end of June.
During a season-long loan at Stamford Bridge, the winger scored five goals, including in the Conference League final victory over Real Betis last month.
Sancho contributed ten assists in all competitions during Chelsea’s 2024–25 campaign.
Sancho has one year remaining on his lucrative United deal, which is estimated to be worth up to £300,000 per week, and clubs from all around Europe are interested in signing him.
The 20-year-old winger, who was a January target, has continued to be at the top of Chelsea’s list of eight or nine attacking targets for this summer.
According to reports, several Premier League and European clubs have contacted Sancho’s representation to inquire about the terms of a deal.
It is believed that everyone would prefer Sancho to locate a permanent residence outside of Old Trafford.
