Chief Justice Commended For Her Strong Resilience By A Political Science Lecturer

Dr. Joshua Jebuntie Zaato and Chief Justice Araba Esaaba

A political science lecturer at the University of Ghana named Dr. Joshua Jebuntie Zaato has offered his thoughts on Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo‘s suspension.

During a recent appearance on TV3’s “The Key Points,” Dr. Zaato stated his conviction that Chief Justice Torkornoo’s tenacity in the face of what he called a “unfair” dismissal procedure will be remembered by history.

He said revealed that, the absence of public support for the Association of Magistrates and Judges of Ghana (AMJG) was significant and chastised them for being quiet throughout this time.

Furthermore, Dr. Zaato said that the Chief Justice’s suspension essentially constituted a dismissal, suggesting that the President had already taken the decision, and nothing could change.

He also questioned the government’s intentions, speculating that the expulsion could be an attempt to exact revenge for the previous firing of Charlotte Osei, the former chairperson of the Electoral Commission.
