
The Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Tong Defa, and a few senior members of the Chinese Embassy called on Ghana’s Minister for Tourism, Arts, and Culture at his office on October 8, 2024.
On July 5, 1960, People’s Republic of China (PRC) and Ghana began diplomatic relations. The country has received substantial diplomatic assistance from Ghana since then. In addition, they have provided Ghana’s development with material assistance in return.
Regarding the Beijing Platform for Action, which calls for coordinated and immediate action to establish a peaceful, just, and humane world based on human rights, the Ambassador made some very important remarks.
Tong Defa also emphasized that Ghana continues to be an important destination for Chinese tourists because his government works to provide the Ghanaian community in China with the best living conditions for their activities.
Additionally, the ambassador stated that his government is prepared to continue providing Ghana with training, investment, and scholarship opportunities as it has in the past.

During the meeting, the Minister emphasized that their Chinese counterparts should revisit the Ghana National Theatre’s interior and structural plans because it is a Chinese-built structure.
Egyapa Mercer reiterated Ghana’s ongoing determination to strengthen its partnership with China for the benefit of its people.
