CNN’s Larry Madowo On Ghana’s Cedi Against The Dollar

Larry Madowo claims that when he visited Ghana for the first time in 2011, the cedi was worth roughly GHC1 to the US dollar. But GHc1.00 is $16 today.

On social media, the globetrotter and CNN International Correspondent shared this and wrote:

“My first time ever in Ghana in 2011, the cedi was about 1:1 to the US dollar. Today, 1.00 cedis is just $16”

For a few years now, the exchange rate between the US dollar and Ghanaian cedis has been extremely challenging.

The historical data for the Ghana Cedis spans a long period, starting in 2019.

The exchange rate as of today, November 12, 2024, is $1.00 USD = GH¢16.19.
