Co-CEO Of Samsung Electronics Dies Of Heart Attack

Han Jong-Hee

On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at the age of 63, Samsung Electronics co-chief executive officer Han Jong-Hee died of a heart attack.

After joining Samsung in 1988, Han was instrumental in making the company’s television division a world leader.

In 2022, he was named co-vice chairman and CEO, in charge of Samsung’s mobile devices and consumer electronics divisions.

After his death, Samsung Electronics’ only CEO will be Jun Young-hyun, who was named co-CEO only a week earlier.

Samsung is facing more competition in the technological industry, therefore Han’s passing comes at a difficult moment for the corporation.

Apple overtook Samsung as the top smartphone producer in 2024, and rival SK Hynix outperformed Samsung in providing Nvidia with AI server chips.

Over the past year, Samsung’s stock has dropped 22% as a result of these changes, while rivals have seen increases.
