Commonwealth’s Secretary-General Pays A Special Visit To President Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has met with Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, the recently elected Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Nations.

In October 2024, the former Ghanaian Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration was elected, and her term would start on April 1, 2025. ​

When she visited him, President Mahama congratulated her and said he was confident she would make Africa proud in her new position.

Before taking office as the 7th Secretary-General of the Commonwealth on April 1st, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey paid President Mahama this special visit.

She wrote on X following the President’s call:

“Grateful for his support for my candidature, and I look forward to strengthen collaboration between Ghana and the Commonwealth in the coming years”.
