As per reports, heavyweight fighter Deontay Wilder is holding talks for a fight in Saudi Arabia on December 23. And Anthony Joshua could show up on a similar bill ahead of a possible battle in 2024.
Discussions had been held recently for a hotly anticipated fight between the heavyweight opponents and Wilder this week emphasized his longing to have a fight with Anthony Joshua at last.
Yet, Wilder is now set to return against an anonymous rival one month from now, while Joshua is also expected to get back to action in a different battle in the Middle East on a similar bout.
Wilder has been missing from the ring for over a year since a fantastic first-round knockout win over Robert Helenius in October 2023. Joshua also faced Helenius in his last battle, and it finished in a seventh-round knockout win this August.
If the two of them emerge winners, Wilder and Joshua could settle their long-running contention one year from now.
Joshua also desires to protect a future fight with British opponent Tyson Fury, who protected his unbeaten record with a hard-battled split decision win over former UFC champion Francis Ngannou last month.
