Despite the fact that American singer and songwriter Dolly Parton and hubby Carl Thomas Dean helped raise several of Dolly’s more youthful siblings in Nashville, with her nieces and nephews alluding to her as ‘Auntie Granny’, which eventually became the name to one of the artist’s Dollywood cafés, the singer never had biological children of her own.
The 74 year old multi-instrumentalist, actress, author, businesswoman, and humanitarian, may have some passionate affectionate for children yet unfortunately for her, she is yet to snuggle one of her own.
She perhaps realized she wouldn’t have the option to have one, that is the reason she transparently tended to it in 2017 out of an interview. Looking at her age now, it is clear all hopes to have children are dashed, despite the fact that the sky is the limit.
During that interview, the country music performer said:
“God has a plan for everything. I think it probably was his plan for me not to have kids so everybody’s kids could be mine. And they are now.”
At the hour of that interview, Dolly had released her first children’s collection, I Believe in You, loaded up with elevating tracks and a book reading.
Sales from that collection benefited Dolly’s charitable association the Imagination Library, which has parted with in excess of 145 million books to kids from birth to 5 years of age in five countries. She launched this program in 1995 as a manner to encourage the habit of reading.
Interestingly, the multiple award winning singer has eleven other kin whom she has a delightful bond with including a close personal relationship with her nieces and nephews, and goddaughter Miley Cyrus. In a 2019 interview with SiriusXM’s Just Jenny, Dolly stated:
“We just kind of gelled, ’cause we’re both country kids. We had a lot of fun just talking about that. And then when Miley came along, I said, ‘She’s got to be my fairy goddaughter.'”
As the years progressed, Dolly has performed with Miley, and she showed up as “Auntie Dolly” on Hannah Montana. As of late, Dolly asked Miley to two part harmony with her on her new collection, A Holly Dolly Christmas, which was released October 2nd and reached at No. 1 on the Billboard Country and Holiday chart in the first week.
