
Legendary boxing promoter Don King was recently hospitalized with health issues, spending days receiving treatment at the hospital.
Mike Tyson, who worked with Don for almost twenty years, first made it known during a recent interview with Cam’ron and Mase on his digital broadcast. When asked about his current relationship with the legendary former promoter, the 58-year-old disclosed this:
“You know, Don is not doing well right now,” the 58-year-old boxer said on Friday. “He’s probably close to 100 years old, he’s not doing well.”
As per sources, he isn’t in that frame of mind of shape health-wise. As a matter of fact, he spent 10-days in the medical clinic and got a blood transfusion, but now recovering at home.
Mike Tyson and Don King had a disagreement back in the days, with Tyson suing Don for $100 million in 1998, saying he was cheated out of millions of dollars by the promoter.
The lawsuit was settled out of court for $14 million. Don and Tyson parted ways in the early 2000s after that.
Tyson said that everything they went through taught him a big lesson.
“I believe Don King pretty much educated me,” Tyson said of the money situation. “That will never happen again.”
“It’s an experience — so that won’t happen again. Now you go in life with an experience so that’s not gonna happen again. Maybe something else but that’s not gonna happen again.”
Don King has worked with many boxing greats including — Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Evander Holyfield, Julio Cesar Chavez, Roberto Duran, Bernard Hopkins and many other heavyweight boxers.
He’s additionally well known for setting up “The Thunder in the Wilderness” and “Thrilla in Manila” battles among Ali and Foreman, probably the greatest matches in boxing history.
