In order to establish a sustainable system for housing development, Vice President and NPP presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says he intends to collaborate with local assemblies and the private sector.

In order to solve Ghana’s housing shortage, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has promised to build affordable housing units in each district of the nation.

The Vice President is in a position to both create jobs and alleviate the housing crisis.

“As part of our plans to address the housing deficit, we will construct housing units in every district. This initiative will not only provide affordable accommodation but also create thousands of jobs for artisans, laborers, and contractors,” Dr. Bawumia said.

The Ministry of Works and Housing estimates that Ghana has a severe housing shortage of more than 1.8 million units.

Low-to-middle-income earners, who are frequently the most impacted by the housing shortage, are the initiative’s target demographic.

It is anticipated that the development of district-level housing units will boost local economies, generate jobs in the construction industry, and give much-needed impetus to sectors like steel and cement manufacturing.

In order to address the housing needs of public sector workers, such as teachers, nurses, police officers, and other essential personnel, especially those assigned to rural and underserved areas, these homes are being constructed under the District Housing Programme.

In the meantime, the government is moving forward with building over 600 new residences in the nation that are exclusively intended for public employees.

According to Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Minister of Works and Housing, “the new homes will be constructed in various districts across the country, ensuring accessibility for those in rural areas.”

On Sunday, November 17, Dr. Bawumia was speaking at a campaign stop in the Sekyere Afram Plains Constituency at Drobonso.
