On the previously scheduled date of January 27, Drake reportedly failed to appear in court for a deposition in XXXTentacion’s murder trial.
Dedrick Williams, one of the main suspects in the XXXTentacion murder trial, has recently named a number of artists who may have been involved in the shooting in 2018. One of the artists on the list was Drake, and he is now being told to appear in court.
After the death of XXX, there were rumors that XXXTentacion’s murder might have been carried out by Drake. Now, defense attorney Mauricio Padilla asserts that the rapper was involved in XXX’s death in some way.
He reportedly tried to subpoena Drake last month to support his claim. However, according to a document that Billboard was able to access, Drake did not show up to the court on the scheduled date of January 27 for a deposition. He now has to participate in a Zoom call for a deposition on February 24. He will reportedly be treated with contempt if he does not comply.
In 2017, Drake and XXXTentacion, whose real name is Jahseh Onfroy, were at odds, with the latter claiming that Drake had used flows from his popular song “Look at Me” on his KMT.

A year later, the rapper XXX, who was just 20 years old at the time, claimed on his Insta stories that Drake would be the cause of his death. As he tagged Drake’s Instagram handle, his story read,

XXXtentacion wrote that his account had been hacked in a post. He was shot to death in Deerfield Beach, Florida, four months later.
XXXTenatacion was killed during a robbery in June of 2018. The rapper has been accused of being shot outside a motorcycle store in Florida by Michael Boatwright, who is 28 years old, Trayvon Newsome, who is 24 years old, and Dedrick Williams, who is 26 years old.
Marca reported that prosecutors in the murder trial claimed that Drake was not connected to the robbery that killed XXXTentacion because it “got out of control.”
The three suspects in the case—Boatwright, Newsome, and Williams—would reportedly face life in prison if they are found guilty.
