Drivers On Bolt Will Now Earn More On The Platform

Bolt drivers in Ghana now have something to smile about, as the ride-hailing platform has reduced commissions for drivers in Accra and Kumasi from 25% to 20%. The platform’s drivers will now earn more.

This move is in line with the company’s commitment to take into account the current economic conditions in Ghana and listen to and respond to feedback from stakeholders.

David Kotei Nikoi, Bolt Ghana’s country manager, provided justifications for the company’s actions.

“Coming to this decision feels like the right thing to do at this time. We are aware of the economic challenges the country has faced in the last six months. We feel it too. Having listened to our drivers through the regular engagements we have with them, we agree that this reduction will go a long way to cushion them from the pressures they’re currently dealing with.”

Bolt has put a lot of effort into making drivers feel like they are an important part of the business ever since it started in Ghana a little over five years ago. Incentives have been central to Bolt’s driver recruitment and retention strategy. The company claims that lowering the commission drivers receive for using the service is beneficial to all drivers simultaneously.

Some of the best bolt drivers can make more than GHS 15,000 per month, earning around GHS 4,000 per month. All drivers will undoubtedly benefit from this new incentive. Bolt claims that this will encourage more drivers to sign up and will also encourage existing drivers to continue using the app in order to maximize their earnings.

Accepting card payments and utilizing the GHS2 cashback offer, earning bonuses within the app, strategically choosing the most profitable times to drive (especially during peak hours), and positioning themselves at high-traffic locations like airports, malls, and shopping centers in various cities are additional opportunities for drivers to increase their earnings.
